Brown is Beautiful
It's as simple as that.
As we know, our skin tone hasn't always been celebrated and I wanted to change that. When I made this piece, I wanted her to look victorious, proud, and confident, just like black women are. I wanted you to know about the power of her skin, and not her hair. I chose lots of colors because we are very colorful people. "Beautiful" is across her chest, on purpose because there's so much power in knowing that in our hearts.
We as black women ALWAYS shine. We are intellect. We are resilient. We are driven to tell the world we are here. You are going to see me and know who I am. And that's what "Brown Is Just So Beautiful" is about.
